Francisco Herrera, d. Ä. ("El Viejo")

Studie eines Apostels (?), Kopf leicht nach links geneigt, 1630 - 1640

Based on the saint's repentant expression, Antonio Martínez Ripoll suspected that this drawing of a figure with his head slightly tilted to the left is a depiction of Saint Peter.[1] A relatively closely meshed grid partially shows through.
Alfonso Pérez Sánchez and Benito Navarrete Prieto proposed its similarity to the Saint Jude Thaddeus at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Córdoba (inv. CE2361P), but that comparison is less than convincing.
