The video depiction of »My Sweet Country« was recorded many months prior to the live performance in the Olympieion, the Temple of the Olympian Zeus in Athens. The researched corporeal constellations are activated on site without a public or any present visitors. In this early phase we focus on confguring our relationship to the site and experiencing the immediate feedback.The embodied postures and their placement on site are coordinated according to the pictorial conception of the video. Prinz Gholam
Michael Gholam (*1963) und Wolfgang Prinz (*1969) bilden das Künstlerpaar Prinz Gholam. In ihrer performativen Praxis experimentieren die Künstler mit der Darstellung von Bildern und Szenen aus Werken der klassischen Kunstgeschichte. Prinz Gholam spielt mit der Dynamik des Tableaux Vivant und verweist auf die Vergangenheit in der Gegenwart sowie auf die Frage der Identität, die durch Bewegung oder Posen vermittelt werden. »My Sweet Country (Olympieion)« verbindet, zwei Standorte, an denen die documenta 14 im Jahr 2017 stattfand, Athen und Kassel. Die Künstler bilden Eugene Delacroixs Gemälde Einzug der
Kreuzfahrer in Konstantinopel nach, indem sie die Bewegung jedes einzelnen Schauspielers in einer choreographierten Sequenz aufführen.
The Artists Michael Gholam (*1963) and Wolfgang Prinz (*1969) form the Prinz Gholam duo. In their performative practice Prinz Gholam experiment with representation of images and scenes from prominent works of classical art. Playing with the dynamics of Tableaux Vivant, Prinz Gholam reference past within the present, as well as the question of identity communicated through a movement. My Sweet Country (Olympieion) (2017) is a work aiming to intertwine two sites where documenta 14 took place, Athens and Kassel. The artists are re-enacting Eugene Delacroix's painting Entry of the Crusaders in Constantinople, by performing the movement of every single actor in the painting in a choreographed sequence.
