Axel Loytved findet sein Ausgangsmaterial in Seitenstraßen, Hinterhöfen und Hosentaschen. Er arbeitet mit gefundenen Materialien und stellt Verwertungsprozesse industriell hergestellter Produkte infrage. Er erforscht, inwiefern solchen noch Wert zugeschrieben werden kann und formt aus diesem „Müll“ skulpturale Formen. Seine Skulpturen wirken wie Schnappschüsse des Konsums, deren glatte Oberflächen darüber hinwegtäuschen, dass die Produkte meist auf eine sehr kurze Lebensdauer ausgelegt sind. Im Falle der Werke Ohne Titel gießt Loytved die gefundenen Materialien, Plakatwände aus dem öffentlichen Raum, in Bronze und gibt ihnen so eine neue Wertigkeit, die durch die Aufhängung als Kunstwerk noch einmal unterstrichen wird. Er verleiht den Materialien im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes Gewicht. Gleichzeitig hält er so einen flüchtigen Zustand des Materials fest, der verloren wäre – ein Zeugnis eines Moments und seiner Materialität im Kontext einer Wegwerfgesellschaft.
Axel Loytved finds his source material in back streets, backyards and trouser pockets. He works with found materials and questions the recycling processes of industrially manufactured products. He explores the extent to which value can still be ascribed to these products by forming sculptural shapes out of this everyday "rubbish". His sculptures seem like snapshots of consumption, their smooth surfaces obscuring the fact that these products are usually designed to have a very short lifespan. In the case of the works Ohne Titel (Untitled), Loytved casts his found materials, parts of billboards originally hung in public spaces, in bronze, giving them a new value that is further emphasised by hanging them as works of art. He gives the materials weight in the truest sense of the word. At the same time, he captures a fleeting state of the material that would be lost – a testimony to a moment and its materiality in the context of a throwaway society.
